The Department was established in 1951 as part of the Civil Aviation Authority. In 1967 it became an independent entity under the Ministry of Transport.

 

The Department operates 31 Stations: 11 Synoptic, 9 Climatological, 10 Agrometeorological Stations and 1 Radiosond Station.

 

Vision

Issuing an accurate, detailed and long-term weather forecast and delivering it properly to users.

 

Mission

Contributing in the economic and social development programs and working towards the protection of Earth’s environment and resources.

 

Establishment

Meteorological services in Jordan started as a weather observation and Forecasting office at Jerusalem Airport in 1951.

 

Tasks

-         Install and maintaining national observation network.

-         Contribute in national development program by providing Specialized data informal.

-         Deploy the National climatological Registry.

-         Contribute in relevant external activities.
